The moment inches nearer when we will join the rest of the world in taking advantage of the technology that is high-speed train travel. The Maryland Department of Transportation has just completed an environmental study looking into the impact of a Superconducting Magnetic Levitation rail line linking DC and Baltimore in just 15 minutes. In addition to sounding really freaking cool, the railway would be hugely beneficial for the folks who commute between the two cities every day.
A route running along the Baltimore-Washington Parkway and one running alongside existing Amtrak lines have been proposed. The route includes a stop at Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI), making it an easier option for DC residents. If all goes well, the plan is to extend the high-speed line to New York.
