Life in DC: I am an Attorney and moved to DC in 2006 from Milwaukee, WI. I wanted a change from the Midwest so like many recent graduates. I got an internship and never looked back.
How were you connected with Koki & Associates? I did not know anyone from Koki & Associates until I went to a DC Open Doors event and met Melissa.
What was the home buying process like for you? It took me a while to find a home. I started in January of this year and finally purchased in October. In that time I saw at least 20 different homes. I saw some with Melissa and I saw a lot on my own. I got overwhelmed with the process and took a break over the summer. It’s a good thing I took a break. I ended up loving the first home I saw when I restarted in September.
What did you like most about the home you purchased? I love the style of my town home – it’s very similar to the type we have in Milwaukee. It felt like home. On top of that I loved the sun porch. Now that I have been in my home, I love the kitchen. It’s just so lovely and I’ve been cooking more. The stove is fantastic and I have so much space. I’ve already had friends over for meals and supper club. The downstairs bathroom seemed odd, but now I love it. in addition to being large it has a nice sun light which only adds to the airy feeling of my home.
What do you love about your area/neighborhood? My neighborhood is peaceful but it’s five minutes from a Metro stop. I love the fact that I have the feel of a suburban neighborhood but I’m close to everything.
