Considered one of the most popular eating spots in Old Town Alexandria, The Warehouse offers fresh seafood and prime-aged steaks. While this restaurant spews elegance, diners here are welcome to dress in casual attire. The Warehouse is located in a historic building in the heart of Old Town Alexandria and is open seven days a week, with brunch offered on weekends.
 
Named after the building's initial inhabitants, Virtue Feed and Grain presents itself with a rustic yet elegant atmosphere. On the menu, choose from Enchiladas Verdes, Australian Lamb Chops, or Shrimp and Grits. Enjoy one of the many draft beers on tap, or choose from the rich wine list. Virtue Feed and Grain welcomes the entire family by offering a varied children's menu and a doggie menu. Seating options include the dog-friendly patio and downstairs or upstairs dining.

Things to Do

Old Town Alexandria boasts three year-round Farmers’ Markets for fresh produce, pasta, pastries, cheeses, potted plants, and freshly cut flowers. The Old Town Market, located in Market Square, is open Saturdays from 7 am to 12 pm. The Old Town North Market is located at Montgomery Park and is open Thursdays from 3 pm to 7 am and Sundays between 10 am and 2 pm. Del Rey Market, located at the corner of East Oxford and Mount Vernon, is open from 8 am to 12 pm on Saturdays. Additional seasonal markets are also open during the spring and summer months.
 
Old Town Alexandria has more than 900 acres of parkland and dedicated public space. Perhaps the most enjoyed is Waterfront Park along the Potomac River. Here you will find a variety of riverfront seating, open lawn space, walking trails, and boat docking. Other favored parks include Founder's Park with a dog exercise area, Jones Point Park featuring its riverine lighthouse built in 1855, and Windmill Hill park with its playgrounds, basketball court, and sand volleyball court.
 
Old Town Alexandria hosts an array of annual events, including The Old Town Art Festival each September, with diverse artwork displays and unusual crafts for sale. The Alexandria Jazz Fest at Portside in Old Town, formerly known as the Memorial Day Jazz Festival, has been an annual occurrence for nearly 50 years. Made into a two-day event in June 2022, the festival features live jazz, reggae, folk-rock music, art and history displays, and a craft beer garden.
